No Wonder Massachusetts Rep Barney Frank Is Running Into Trouble

Published by coolfinds at 12:05 pm under Worth Publishing Edit This

http://www.boston.com/news/politics/politicalintelligence/2009/08/frank_turns_tab.htmlHe’s a congressman, he’s the chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, he supported, affirmed, and encouraged Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac even as they failed and took the economy down with them.  He shouldn’t be a popular guy anymore in Massachusetts but somehow he has always managed to keep afloat in the political world.  But I’m on to his strategy and there is an object lesson hidden in the above video of a recent Democratic town hall meeting regarding Barney’s (and all democrat’s and some other politician’s) approach to dealing with difficult issues…Also known as “bullying” this social strategy involves focusing on the person and person’s attributes rather than on the issue.  For example, the woman who compared Obama’s policies and approaches to government to the Nazi regime was probably out of line considering all that is associated with the Nazi party.  However, there are numerable similarities which would not hold up to scrutiny in an educated, reasonable debate so Barney avoids this by insulting the woman and making it seem like anyone who is smart would not think that.  This is typical of the democratic party in general and it closely resembles junior high school bullies and the “cool kids club” where, if you’re not on the in crowd, you’re not cool.  See, I’m even using it right now - but I’m also being reasonable and logical.During the economic downfall about a year ago when everything really started to fall apart, Barney easily shifted the blame to greedy bankers and Wall Street executives.  At first glance, who wouldn’t agree?  However, ironical-Barney was responsible for pushing sub-prime loans which threw a curveball to banking competition and pushed banks all over the country to somehow offer these to home-buyers even though it was a destructive financial pattern.  Give out enough of these loans and your bank goes under much like the famed Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac along with any investor and investing company who had thought they could trust the banks and the banking system.  They didn’t know they couldn’t trust Barney, but they couldn’t, they shouldn’t have, we shouldn’t have, and we shouldn’t anymore.Notice also how Barney alludes to the First Ammendment - you remember it…free speech?  He says the woman who referred to Obama’s policies resembling the policies of the Nazi party (they are similarities) only said that because of the upholding of the First Ammendment.  In other words, in a Barney World there would be no free speech.  Ironically, this idea in and of itself clearly resembles the Nazi regime. So here we have it, in the very same conversation where Barney defends himself and Obama’s policy as of-course-not-anything-like-the-Nazi-regime-you-idiot, he then confirms the similarity by opposing Free Speech.Someone please save us from anti-American leaders such as Barney and his liberal cohorts.

Stop pointing out facts. Barney and his type (Liberals/Progressives) will vilify you and call you bad names :)

How else is someone supposed to respond to utter nonsense? With a dignified answer? Hell no! When you see someone being willfully ignorant enough to use Nazi comparisons, you respond in kind.

    Firstly, paragraphs.

Secondly, Yes, Frank and a lot of other congressmen screwed up. A lot of people realize that, there’s not a whole lot that can be done about it now. It’s not as though he was the only person to sponsor, co-sponsor, or sign the bill(s) in question that put the country on it’s current path. I’m pretty certain that cognitive dissonance is something that you gain by being in politics for any significant amount of time.

While, I don’t approve of his manner in dealing with willful ignorance, I did get a laugh out of it. It’s not always easy to maintain one’s temper when having to deal with ignorance; especially those who are more than willing to throw around terms like Nazi, Hitler, fascism without having any sort of historical understanding and are instead just parroting what they heard on the Glenn Beck.

Had she actually presented her question like a person with an independent thought, then perhaps she’d have gotten a legitimate answer instead of being talked down to.

In the least, the woman was articulating her distrust of Obama based on his background and influences which we all know is QUITE valid.
