Why Don’t We Thank Rich People for Financing Our Country?

Published by coolfinds at 1:02 pm under Worth Publishing Edit This

In any capitalistic society, the rich & the middle class are the ones who end up financing the majority of government spending. Why do the rich have such a bad raport especially with democrats who tend to spend more and raise taxes? If Obama at least acknowledged that he is asking a whole lot more sacrifice on the part of the rich to fund his initiatives and perhaps even go so far as to thank them for their hard work and “willingness” to give up even more out of their earnings than they already do, I think he’d be a lot better off. Instead, he pits his followers against the rich and blames them for just about anything for which he wants to blame them. This strategy is called “biting the hand that feeds,” and has never been a good strategy for anyone at any time. It’s possible good ol’ Barack doesn’t want to admit that it is the hard working middle and upper class that finance government and therefore they are truly the ones with the “power” and not him. If they stop making a lot of money then Barack has less money to spend. I am a big fan of democracy in this case. I’m glad the power doesn’t actually go to the rich and is spread (by voting, essentially) amongst all citizens. This is the beauty of democracy and it’s even based on the capitalistic principle of supply and demand: the people demand (vote for) who they want to govern them. However, things get sticky when people can vote for those who will give them other people’s money. For example, the lower class voting populace may be tempted to vote for a democrat because a democrat will generally fund welfare and housing more than a republican would. This isn’t always true, but who pays for that? Taxpayers: upper and middle class taxpayers. In essence, the individual can vote himself other people’s money. The candidate knows this and even uses it in his campaign to basically “buy” votes from a certain populace based on a belief, a stance, and moral conviction, a religious belief, or a financial plan. Right now, the rich (not middle class) are a voting minority and therefore don’t often get their way but, the general population says, they have a lot of money so they’re fine -who cares if their desires are not well represented. So we mute the rich and demand that they pay more and more and more to finance things they may not believe in or may even be morally or politically AGAINST. Then, when all taxes are paid — we slam them and call them greedy and terrible and blame them for things for which they are clearly not responsible.Rich people all over the nation, here’s the thanks you deserve but will never hear: Sorry about the bad rap, but thanks for financing our country.
